Mrs. Mike is a young guy adultish book about a very young American woman who marries a Royal Canadian Mounted Police in 1907. The situation in the country to live and have a lot of the American pioneers.

My Antonia by Willa Cather is one of the best. Also, all Little House on the Prairie books are great, even for an adult. Children's Books on Abe Lincoln was also an excellent overview of this period.
